Dear Writer,

Do you have to sit down somewhere to type your writing on your laptop or Smartphone, or use pen on paper?

Today, I’m writing about how a personal assistant can help you with your writing. She can take your dictations at your speaking speed with high accuracy.

My personal assistant accompanies me through the day, jots down my thoughts and ideas, and transcribes my writing as well as reminding me of my tasks and appointments for the day.

This assistant is available to work most of the day with little need of time to recharge. I feel quite fortunate to have such personal writing assistant.

You too can enjoy the same luxury!

Your personal assistant will help you jot down your thoughts or start your writing draft while you’re working at the office, grocery shopping, gardening, or even jogging.

Are you curious to know how I found this perfect personal writing assistant?

I didn’t hire her and I don’t pay her a salary.

My personal assistant is Google Doc App accompanied by my Smartphone. Google Doc provides the medium for taking my dictations using my voice (speech to text technology) and transcribes it into Google Doc.

Google Doc App and my smartphone work together as my personal writing assistant.

If you already know about the integration of these technologies, you’re on your way. If not, I encourage you to take a few minutes to check out the speech to text technology on your device for yourself.

Speech to text technology for iPhones and androids

  • Download the Google Doc App from your phone’s App Store
  • Launch the Google Doc App on your phone’s main screen
  • Load an existing Google Doc or create a new Google Doc
  • Click to edit – the keypad will appear at this point
  • Click on the microphone left to the space bar on your Smartphone device
  • Start your dictation

Enjoy watching your Smartphone take your dictations, convert your speech into text, and transcribe the text into Google Doc.

Voice commands— you can use audio commands such as period, new line, and new paragraph for formatting.

Note: the applications are unable to allow editing features such as going back and making corrections at this time.

The technology is moving at a rapid pace. We are now able to integrate some of these amazing technologies into our daily life to enhance our productivity.

So, get out there and do what you enjoy. Your writing doesn’t have to suffer because you enjoy the outdoors. Take your writing with you. You may find that blending your activity with your writing may even inspire your writing!!

I hope you find this productivity hack helpful. Please don’t hesitate to share this blog post if you feel a colleague or a friend may benefit from this information.
